V Generation. Residential & Nursing Care

Development of a new typology of Residential & Nursing Care buildings. The project is based on the idea of Active Aging and provides an answer for the future of the elderly population. After a typological research work that finds a new concept of elderly care living, the project establishes the design from the minimum unit to a community system. Finally, in a posteriori phase of the project, the new typology of residential and healthcare building is implemented in a real location and all the technical aspects are defined.

Sports technification centre

Formal development starts from the concept of a program organized in strips: a structural system with trusses is proposed to save the large spans required by the sports program. The strips are separated to breathe each other capturing light and outside ventilation.

Multimedia Technology Lab Center

The implementation of the large volume required by the program on the scale of the environment can be very tough. To reduce the visual impact, the geometry of the building is used to fragment and staggering heights. The slope of the place helps us with the game. The program of this project focuses on covering the activities of a nomadic worker, who is searching for a better family, work and social balance. Two types of programs are distinguished: a stable and an unstable program.

The stable program is carried out in spaces of constant height including between the perimeter metal skeleton of the façade. From this program, a prism is subtracted to generate a double height in the open air as an atrium.

The unstable program arises from the connections between the stable program and is configured as concrete walkways that traverse the main metal volume. These programmed connections generate variable height sections that cater to any unexpected activity.

Arts School and Urban Acupuncture

Reactivation of the old town at different scales and through a catalogue of program packages inserted into the urban fabric as an acupuncture method with the ability to grow over time. Each element works as a "prosthesis". On the one hand, the existing gaps are filled and, on the other hand, by adding urban elements defined as the vegetation and the pavement, a new city of residential and endowment character is organized.

RE-SACAS

This project is located in an unbuilt area in the middle of the city centre that has been occupied by a cultural collective as a centre for activities and outdoor gatherings. The initial condition of the project was to build it with a budget of less than 450 €. This condition forced us to look for alternative solutions with recycled materials.

The intervention respects and classifies the existent materials in order to achieve a unified and functional space for the collective use of the site. A cover starts from the surface expansion of a module generated from cuts and folds made on the traditional raffia bag and functions. This is a skin articulated that has different heights that generate a ruled surface on a new stage.
